How TrainingPlan.dev researches and updates content
These standards explain what our reviews mean, where facts come from, how recommendations are formed, and where our evidence stops.
Four editorial bases
- Hands-on: the author or named contributor used the product and the page states who tested it, how, and under what conditions.
- Research-based: the page synthesizes exact-model manufacturer documentation, normalized catalog facts, and attributed independent evidence without claiming personal use.
- Catalog summary: the page explains structured facts from TrainingPlan.dev's audited shoe database and labels editorial inferences as inferences.
- Editorial guide: the page explains a training or running decision using cited sources and clearly stated practical limits.
Shoe-data source order
- Exact-model manufacturer specifications and documentation.
- TrainingPlan.dev's normalized, versioned shoe catalog.
- Independent exact-model measurements or testing.
- Authorized retailer details when primary sources omit a fact.
When sources disagree, the page should identify the disagreement or explain which standardized catalog convention is used. A predecessor, waterproof edition, collaboration, or similarly named model is not substituted for the exact shoe.
Reviews and recommendations
A specification can support statements about weight, stack, drop, materials, or intended category. It cannot by itself prove comfort, fit, durability, ride feel, or injury outcomes. Best-of and comparison pages should state the decision criteria, show relevant tradeoffs, and avoid presenting one product as universally best.
Product ratings, prices, inventory, customer-review excerpts, and hands-on claims are not invented to complete a page or structured data field.
Training and health content
Training guidance is educational. Injury-related pages use conservative language, distinguish comfort or fit considerations from treatment, and encourage qualified care when symptoms are persistent, severe, or individualized. No shoe can guarantee that an injury will be prevented or treated.

Images and provenance
Exact-model images are sourced in this order: manufacturer media assets, manufacturer product pages, authorized retailers, and a documented temporary Amazon fallback. A sourced product image is not presented as original photography. Temporary fallbacks remain tracked for replacement when an approved long-term source becomes available.
Updates, corrections, and dates
An updated date should represent a material revision such as new model data, a changed recommendation, corrected evidence, or a substantive structural improvement. Dates are not refreshed merely to create an appearance of freshness. Broken links and minor copy edits may be corrected without changing the editorial conclusion.
